ALABAMA YOUTH

GO TO SIX FLAGS

Our Alabama PC Youth had an amazingly good – GOOD FRIDAY!  There were 18 young people and 6 adults that climbed into 5 cars and took off for Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington. They left here about 7:30 am and arrived at the park about noon.  They ate a quick lunch which they had taken along with them.

Once in the park they divided into smaller groups with a couple of adults accompanying each group. Most of the talk was about screams, laughter and going at warp speeds moving up, down, sideways, backwards, upside-down, falling, hurling, and spinning,   There was talk of terror, supreme delight, wild abandonment, pride in facing the challenges.

They all met up for supper together and were very soon off to ride and play until the park closed at 10 pm.  There were Christian concerts in the evening but our kids chose to pass.  Once the concert started they could finally get on rides much quicker.  One group waited 2 hours to ride and the ride was closed for the day just as they were about to board.

They spent the night in a near-by Best Western. Adults reported that lights were out and EVERYONE was asleep by about midnight.

Everyone was so tired sleep came easy and fast. Many thanks are due the sponsors who went on the trip.

They all returned very tired but still smiling. Carolyn and Bill Willis were assisted by Janice Finley and Mike Davis in getting some paper work done before the kids left. The best way to let you know who went is to list everyone who rode in each vehicle.

Chris Brewster took Buddy Ledford, Barry Turner, and Josh Lowery.  Thanks Tom O’Neal for the loan of the suburban. Lois Davis had Charlie Davis, Meagan Amos, and Lauren Sexton-Davis in her car. Kathy Lowery took Julia Lowery, Tiffany Russell, Cassidy Maddox, Rachel Hill, Kellie Shuff, and Jessica Lowery. Tammy Russell had Petina Ledford, Austin Ledford, Brandon Russell, Jessica Barnes and Rachel King in her car. Renee Jones had Ashley Calendar and Jessica Jones in the car with her.

Some cars got here by 3 pm as planned but others stopped for major shopping sprees on the way home and made it here between 5 and 7 pm.
